AMD Ryzen has been made official by the company. The current lineup includes three Ryzen processors - Ryzen 7 1700, Ryzen 7 1700X and the flagship Ryzen 1800X.

AMD is apparently delaying the launch of mid-range Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3 series CPUs. As per Forbes, the Ryzen 7 range will likely generate more profit and it will help AMD to rise in the high-end PC market. The low and mid-range CPUs are also likely to be strong contenders in the market and will compete against similar offerings from Intel.

The AMD Ryzen will support AM4 socket and different AM4 motherboards will have different capabilities. The basic motherboards are A320 motherboards intended for budget systems. These motherboards support 10Gbps USB 3.1 gen2 port, two 5Gbps USB 3.1 gen1 ports and up to six USB 2.0 ports. The A320 chipset also supports PCI Express gen2 along with a pair of SATA 3 and SATA Express ports.

X370 motherboards are enthusiast level motherboards with dual PCI Express 3.0 slots to support multi-GPU setups. The X370 motherboards come with the best technologies and they are fully loaded with features that would lure gamers.

The mid-range motherboards are B350 motherboards which would provide a sweet spot for gamers and enthusiasts who want a balance between price and features, reported Mstars News. These motherboards will not support multi-GPU setups but will have two more PCI Express lanes.

AMD Ryzen brings similar performance as its Intel counterparts at a fraction of the price. Intel has also dropped the prices of some of its processors in order to combat AMD Ryzen CPUs. The AMD Ryzen 7 1800X has managed to break Cinebench R15 world record using liquid nitrogen and this has created a buzz in the PC gaming industry.

The AMD Ryzen has proved to be a fierce competitor to Intel Core i series. However, the overclocking capability of AMD Ryzen is still unknown. On March 2, AMD will release more details on Ryzen, its chipsets and coolers. The company will also provide an official plan of its future releases.
