Cannibal films and TV shows add some spice to the horror genre, but the upcoming "Raw" movie adds a new twist with a teenage cannibal. The French movie directed by Julia Ducournau is sweeping the nation with its unique take on cannibalism and horror. It won Best First Feature at the BFI London Film Festival and several other awards.

There have been a lot of talk about the "Raw" movie and it's clear that it deserves all the awards it has received. The movie revolves around Justine (Garance Marillier) who belongs to a family of vegetarians and veterinarians. She studies in a veterinary school and is forced to eat rabbit kidney for a hazing ritual. Justine is overwhelmed by the new taste and starts to crave human flesh. She even bites the lip of a boy she kisses.

Focus World released a new "Raw" movie trailer, "Rookies", where the new students are drenched in what looks like blood. According to the AV Club, the movie explores themes of cannibalism and physical intimacy. Justine has never tasted meat before and she has never had a girlfriend or boyfriend either. Her journey is troubling and horrifying, although the film focuses more on body horror and visceral imagery.

Justine's older sister, Alexia (Ella Rumpf), is her polar opposite. Their relationship is one of jealousy and love. Alexia helps Justine with her problem, while at the same time teases her about it. The "Raw" movie is not a traditional horror flick, so viewers will have to make do without jump scares and shocking monsters at every corner.

The film garnered a reputation as a cannibal shocker, but it did win many awards. According to ComingSoon, the "Raw" movie won Best Director award at Fantastic Fest's "Next Wave". It also won the Golden Octopus Award and the Audience Award at the Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival and three other recognitions at the Sitges-Catalonian International Film Festival. It will be in select theaters on March 10.
