Google Pixel is a complete Google smartphone customised and distributed by Google itself. The smartphone is the direct rival to Apple iPhone and is backed by Google. The successor to the Google Pixel is speculated from a long time and latest reports reveal that Google will launch three Pixel phones this year.

As per the reports, a new phone is codenamed as "taimen" is in the works that will be launched along with Google Pixel and Pixel XL this year. It is also being reported that the codename for Pixel 2 is "walleye" and Pixel XL 2 is "muskie". It is being said that Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 will be smaller than "taimen" and it will have a screen size of more than 5.8-inches.

As reported by BGR, Google might remove 3.5mm audio jack from its upcoming Pixel devices. This news comes from an internal Google document, however, it may also mean that this is just an idea which Google may implement. The removal of headphone jack will be a bold move for Google since the company highlighted this feature in its Pixel phones last year over the Apple iPhone 7.

Google Pixel 2 might launch at the same timeframe as the Pixel last year. "There is an annual rhythm in the industry, reported Trusted Reviews. So, you can count on us to follow it. You can count on a successor this year, even if you don't hear a date from me now," said Rick Osterloh, Google's head of hardware.

Apart from the speculations it is clear that Google Pixel devices will be premium and will feature the best hardware available in the market. Some reports say that the Pixel 2 will come with a waterproof certification as this was missing from the last years' Google Pixel smartphones.

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are expected to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipsets. But there are also speculations of Google opting for an Intel processor for its upcoming smartphones. There are reports that the company even tested MediaTek chips for its upcoming Pixel smartphones.
