‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Season 2 Episode 15 'Fellowship Of The Spear' A Tribue To J.R.R Tolkien

"Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 Episode 15 pays tribute to "Lord of the Rings" author J.R.R. Tolkien. In this episode titled the "Fellowship of the Spear," the Legends meets the famous writer as a soldier, during their mission to retrieve parts of the Spear of Destiny.

The title for "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 Episode 15 is a tribute in itself to the deceased author. The "Fellowship of the Spear" is akin to "The Fellowship of the Ring," one of the titles in Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" book series. This is why it makes sense to include the author in the upcoming episode, although he appears as a World War I soldier.

According to the synopsis, the Legends continue their mission to retrieve parts of the Spear of Destiny in "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 Episode 15. Cartermatt adds that in the "Fellowship of the Spear" the Legends end up in the heart of the World War 1 in France during their mission. There they meet a soldier named John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (guest star Jack Turner) and enlist his help. The team knows that they must destroy the Spear. However, they also struggle with the mystical weapon's lure over them.

Meanwhile, a former team member surprises the Legends with his return in "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 Episode 15. In the "Fellowship of the Spear" Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold returns from the grave. It remains unknown which version of Captain Cold returns. As far as the team knows, he is already dead. He died when he sacrificed himself to save his team in Season 1.

It is clear though that this version of Captain Cold in "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 Episode 15 is not the good kind. Showrunner Phil Klemmer told Entertainment Weekly that the Snart that returns in the "Fellowship of the Spear" is not the same person the team once knew. He is now a full-on member of the Legion of Doom.

Of all the Legends, Rory is the most affected by Snart's return in "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 Episode 15. Seeing his partner alive might just convince him to be a part of the Legion of Doom too. Regardless, fans will know what happens in the "Fellowship of the Spear" when the episode airs on March 21.
