Microsoft Surface Pro 5, Surface Phone & Surface Book Cancelled; Is Microsoft Changing Plans

Microsoft makes announcements about their new Surface series products in the spring season. The Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book were also launched in 2015, and it has been two years since people have seen a new device from Microsoft. However, it seems that Microsoft has either dropped or change the plans of launching a new Surface product.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is a highly anticipated device for this season but there is not even a single strong evidence that could prove its release soon. The Surface Book 2 also sails in the same boat. No information has been made official about these products till now.

As per the recent reports, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 will not be launched by Microsoft at the Spring event. Previously, it was expected that Microsoft might be using HoloLens 2 glasses with the Surface Pro 5 that might have caused the delay for the launch of the hybrid laptop.

There is a Spring event planned by Microsoft but the company is expected to reveal its Windows 10 Creators update and not announce any hardware devices, ZDNet reported. It is very unlikely that Microsoft Surface Book 2 and Surface Pro 5 are canceled but then again, there is not a single piece of information about their existence.

The Microsoft Surface Phone is another anticipated device but that would be too early for Microsoft to release it. Microsoft has filed several patents that show that Surface Phone will be based on mini-tablet and might be a foldable phone. Nonetheless, these devices might require software features that will be available in the Redstone 3 update for Windows 10, Slashgear reported.

Recent reports also reveal that Microsoft might be working on several Surface devices which will be known as "Cloud Books". These clamshells might rival Chromebooks from Google as per the reports. But new devices from the company are highly anticipated that go head to head against the new MacBook Pro.
