‘Arrow’ Season 5 Finale Spoilers: Deathstroke Returns To Defeat Prometheus

Stephen Amell (Oliver/Green Arrow) confirmed that Deathstroke returns in the "Arrow" Season 5 Finale on his Twitter. The actor shared a photo of the villain's mask placed on the ground. Amell also welcomed back Manu Bennett, as he reprises Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke.

The CW has yet to release the synopsis for the "Arrow" Season 5 Finale. However, showrunner Marc Guggenheim already revealed the title for Episode 23, which is "Lian Yu." The title itself speaks of Deathstroke since it harks back to his origin story, which involves a mission in Lian Yu Island.

Regardless, storyline details for the "Arrow" Season 5 Finale remain under wraps. It is unclear what brings Deathstroke back. Perhaps it could be another mission in Lian Yu Island or he could return to wreak havoc in Star City.

However, series writer Wendy Miracle teased otherwise. She hinted at what happens in the "Arrow" Season 5 Finale in a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly. She talked about a surprising alliance that happens when Oliver uses everything and everyone in his arsenal to defeat Prometheus. "You're not going to believe who Oliver is working with to defeat Prometheus," Mericle said.

It may seem like an unlikely alliance between Oliver Queen and Deathstroke. After all, the villain killed his mother. Regardless, Amell also hinted at Oliver and Deathstroke's alliance on his tweet, according to Collider. He captioned his photo of the villain's mask with "Desperate times call for desperate measures."

Mericle said the "Arrow" Season 5 Finale tackles Oliver's family again. It also brings a great emotional punch for Oliver when Deathstroke returns. She said Episode 23 is going to be very emotional and explosive.
