This is because some parents and young people in Australia believe the content of the series is distressing.

According to Junkee, National Manager of headspace School Support Kristen Douglas referred to "13 Reasons Why" as "irresponsible." Douglas pointed out that the show is suggesting that teenagers can achieve "resolution" through suicide.

Douglas further explained that "13 Reasons Why" was distressing to some students and young people who watched the show. They contacted the office to reveal their thoughts about the show. Douglas and some critics believe that Selena Gomez's series is not encouraging depressed and bullied teens to get help.

Meanwhile, Jaclyn Grimm published her thoughts on "13 Reasons Why" on U.S.A Today. Grimm noted that Hannah Baker gained popularity through suicide and for her, it is a "dangerous" message to send to teens. Aside from this problem, Grimm pointed out that the show is also encouraging the blame of people around the person who committed suicide.

As for the ongoing debate about the shooting of Alex in "13 Reasons Why," Buzz Feed noted that there were signs suggesting Alex really tried to kill himself. Some fans believe it was Tyler the photographer who shoot Alex. However, Alex cleaned his room before the shooting took place. Hannah did the same.
