Caitriona Balfe & Sam Heughan Celebrate His Birthday With MacKenzie Mauzy at "Outlander" Set

Many fans of Sam Heughan have often wondered how he celebrates his birthdays and if he gets to spend it with Caitriona Balfe. They got their answer when the Scottish actor celebrated his 37th birthday last April 30. Balfe herself shared a late post of the celebration and it turns out that the “Outlander” stars did celebrate his birthday together. But, it is important to note that Sam’s girlfriend, MacKenzie Mauzy, was also there.

Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser in “Outlander,” thanked his fans who flooded his Twitter account with their birthday greetings reports Just Jared. He posted a photo of himself appearing sweaty and sexy. Meanwhile, Caitriona Balfe seemed to have given into fans’ requests when she posted a group picture of Sam’s birthday celebration along with her belated greetings. They were joined in the photo by the 28-year old MacKenzie Mauzy.

It could be recalled that Sam Heughan first went public with MacKenzie Mauzy during a Piaget pre-party earlier this year. However, neither of them has addressed their dating even if they have been linked for sometime before their initial public outing. This was followed by other dates including one which saw the couple walking in Los Angeles wearing matching shirts according to Mail Online. But, “Outlander” die-hard fans were disappointed that Sam is romantically involved other than his co-star Caitriona Balfe.

These fans used social media to let their disgust known for Sam Heughan’s new relationship with MacKenzie Mauzy. It even reached a point that some of the avid “Outlander” Sam and Claire worshippers started sending death threats to Mauzy or anyone being remotely linked to Sam. He slammed this fan behavior with a tweet saying, “Shameful behavior by many social media recently. It’s disgusting and needs to stop. Spineless bullying. Stop Now.”

Caitriona Balfe herself is not happy with the actions of some of the “Outlander” couple’s obsessive followers. She often reiterates in her interviews that her onscreen partnership with Sam Heughan is not real. She has said that it bothers her when people claim that the actors are together. Balfe insists that they are good friends who have a similar view on life. She herself has been quietly dating Tony McGill for years now.
