A little less than a month after the single got its official release on iTunes, the Backstreet Boys premiered their new video for "In A World Like This" on Good Morning America today (July 18).

The clip features the veteran boy band singing in the Saharan desert. The "I Want It That Way" group clutch their chests in true boy band fashion, strum on their acoustic guitars and clap their hands to the beat while belting out the adult pop track.

Meanwhile, major events in US history that have brought people are shown on a TV while different couples comfort each other. The moon landing, the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the resuming of gay marriage in California following the Supreme Court decision last month are all depicted.

"The concept of the video is based on the song, which tells a story of how love conquers all and 'in a world like this' that we all live in, with all the craziness and negative energy that can go around, with real love you can overcome anything," AJ McLean told the morning chat show.

Though some fans might think BSB are getting a little too political with the video's final scene, which depicts an old lesbian couple holding hands and watching the Prop 8 decision, McLean is letting people know LGBT rights are important to the group.

"Marriage equality is an ongoing issue for years. BSB wants to show our support for the LGBT community and we believe that two people of the same sex should have the right to get married," he said.

"In A World Like This" is the first single off the Backstreet Boys' upcoming album of the same name. The record will be released on July 30.
