Earlier this week, Activision released a special trailer for Call of Duty: Ghosts and its new multiplayer co-op mode entitled "Extinction." This trailer introduced us to the new concept of alien invasion battle as opposed to the previous multiplayer mode in the franchise that was based around zombies. This is a step away from the whole zombie craze in video games, so we'll have to see how this affects gaming in the long run. But now we have an even longer look at "Extinction" with an 8-minute gameplay video!

This 8-minute gameplay footage should definitely any questions left over from the trailer released earlier this week. With this new video, we can get a good look at just how the aliens fight as well as how the co-op feature works internally. We also get to see actual in-game footage as opposed to the theatrical, cut-scene type footage from the trailer. All in all, this new video is definitely beneficial for prospective gamers looking to capitalize on all of the features of Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Check out this gameplay footage:

Ghosts project director Brian Bright had this to say about the co-op mode: "Early on we knew we wanted to have more three dimensional gameplay, with aliens jumping above you, climbing on walls, doing interesting traversals and just attacking from different directions, so that was a fairly major overhaul for the Call of Duty engine.

"It took about four to six months to get all the pieces in place so that our scripters could move on to the game design. We really wanted to have a focus on base defence mixed with survival wave defence as well as scavenging and class levelling."
