Cleveland Browns' quarterback options with the 2014 NFL Draft just weeks away?

There isn't a team in the NFL with more freedom surrounding their quarterback position that the Cleveland Browns. This can be both a good and a bad thing. Whilst having the experience of Tom Brady or the youth of Andrew Luck on your team gives you the stability required to succeed, the Browns have nothing of that sort, so it's important they fix that as soon as possible. With only Brian Hoyer and Alex Tanney on their roster, the Browns will make moves in free agency and the 2014 NFL Draft to ensure their quarterback position is as strong as it can possibly be.

Coach Mike Pettine said so himself in February. He said "We have a lot of priorities. Quarterback is the obvious one." He continued, saying "We feel good about that, but that's the position that needs to be addressed." Pettine himself knows what his team needs, but have they really considered all of their options?

With only four NFL starts for Hoyer, it's evident the Browns need experience, even if they believe he is the man to lead them to glory. That's where free agency comes in to play. Josh Freeman, Matt Flynn and Rex Grossman are still unsigned, and all would provide some much needed NFL experience. It's known that the Browns' offensive coordinator, Kyle Shanahan, is a big fan of Grossman, as they've worked together before, so this deal would make sense all round.

This doesn't mean the Browns will ignore the talented quarterbacks in the upcoming draft. It's a sure thing that they will look to take one of Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater or Derek Carr, but which one would suit the team the most?

Even though the draft is just weeks away and the Browns may not have a solid plan with the quarterback position, it'd be pretty hard to mess this up, and one thing's for sure, their quarterback depth is going to be a lot stronger in a months time.
