Both the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars are busy assessing the quarterbacks that are going to be available in the 2014 NFL Draft, but which one should they target? Most fans would tell you the duo simply have to pick from the highly regarded trio of Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater and Blake Bortles, but would they be better off using that pick on another player, and drafting quarterback A.J. McCarron in one of the later rounds?

The Alabama quarterback did pretty much everything possible during his college career. He won national championships, he stayed humble and he brought his team to several victories from the depth of despair, so why are the teams seemingly wanting the likes of Manziel and Bridgewater instead? Simply put they have higher reputations and they're seen as instant NFL players, whilst many think A.J. will not be ready straight away.

With several quarterback options in this years class, A.J. may be the perfect choice for the Browns and the Jaguars, for many reasons. Firstly, both teams believe in their starting quarterbacks, and they're willing to give them this year to prove themselves. The likes of Manziel, Bortles and Bridgewater would be expected to come in and save their struggling franchise in a short span of time. However, by drafting McCarron, either team could let him soak up the NFL knowledge their starter has, and he could be handed the starting position later in the season, or possibly next year.

It seems harsh to say A.J. isn't on the level of the few tipped to be drafted early on, even if that's what many seem to think. If A.J. is given the right tools, and coaches, as he was in Alabama, then he could become a deadly quarterback within the NFL. Reconsider your quarterback options, NFL teams.
