The UEFA Champions League final is quite often the biggest stage a player will ever get to play on. Every year it's a monumental occasion, but this year was different. Atletico Madrid took on city, and La Liga rivals, Real Madrid, making this an even better final before a ball had even been kicked. The final, played out Saturday evening, did not disappoint.

Atletico have for a long time been in the shadows of Real, who many consider the biggest club in Spain and the world. This year had been different. Atletico won La Liga and dominated in the UCL, so many were wondering if they could get one over on their big rivals, and they so nearly did. An early goal ensured they had a 1-0 lead with seconds left to go, but a Sergio Ramos goal ensured extra time would be needed.

From the moment it went to extra time, Real, now with the momentum, and the overall better squad, always looked a sure thing to go on and lift the UEFA Champions League, and they did so. However, nobody would've believed the way Real won it in the end. A Gareth Bale goal ensured it was 2-1 and soon after another 2 goals came for Real, including a penalty kick for Cristiano Ronaldo, which left Atletico 4-1 down.

On the night it was Real that were celebrating, but Atletico will take pride from their season overall. Will Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo create a dynasty together at Real Madrid?
