As The Millers gets ready for its season two premiere on October 20, the show's star Will Arnett talks about working with his off-screen friend Sean Hayes. The Will & Grace alum is joining the CBS series for its sophomore season and his onscreen chemistry with his friend Arnett is undeniable.

Hayes will be playing Kip Finkle, the newly divorced roommate to Nathan's (Arnett) mom, Carol (played by Margo Martindale). The Millers creator describes Kip, saying, "Kip considers Nathan and his career kind of dumb," Greg Garcia told TV Guide.

When Garcia approached Hayes about joining the cast as a new character, he didn't even have to think about it before saying yes. "For me, it was the easiest 'yes' I've ever given. I had done some episodes with Will on Up All Night as well, but to get to work with one of your good friends every day and get paid for it? Dream come true," Hayes told TV Guide. "I was like, 'LOL, that would be awesome.' No, not really," Arnett added.

The two now costars have been friends for years, meeting before Arnett guest starred on Hayes' comedy Will & Grace as the character Artemis Johnson. Their friendship really took off after his guest role on the show.

"We had met before, just around town, but it wasn't until he came on Will & Grace that we became friends. And he's sitting right next to me, so I can make him really uncomfortable, but I did an interview shortly after that episode where I was asked who the funniest person I knew was, and I said, 'Hands down, Will Arnett,'" the Sean Saves the World actor told the publication.

"Wait, what about hands up, though?" Arnett joked.

During this season on The Millers, the duo admitted that they have such great writers that they barely do ad-libs. "The writers do such a great job at creating the exact beats and rhythms and words, so not a lot of work is required on our part," Hayes explained.
