The Mindy Project may not be back until Nov. 4, but we've got a little bit of news from the series' favorite nurse to tie you over. Ike Barinholtz plays nurse Morgan Tookers on the hilarious Fox comedy and he's been looking very slim this season. He is now opening up about his secret weight loss secret.

"I lost a couple ounces, yeah," Ike told People while promoting The Mindy Project this month. "I did this movie [The Nest] with Tina [Fey] and Amy [Poehler] last summer, and I had to lose weight for it."

"I was real big, and the part was kind of a romantic part, and the director – in the NICEST way – was like, 'This is a character who recently lost some weight.' Draw your own conclusion," the 37-year-old revealed to the publication.

What was the secret to his great amount of weight loss? Beer... well, he drinks less beer that is. "I stopped drinking beer, which I love. And then cheese popcorn was a big thing for me. I would go to Whole Foods and get one of those bags of cheese popcorn and eat the whole thing right away. So basically it was just, for the first time in my life, trying to eat reasonably," he admitted.

Now that his role in The Nest is over, The Awesomes actor is back to his normal food routine, especially when it comes to beer. "Oh, I'm back on it, don't worry. Oh, Daddy's back!" he joked.

As for Ike's character on The Mindy Project, the actor revealed that they are actually very similar, which is both good and bad. "In a lot of bad ways, we are similar. That comedy sense is one of them. If I was some erudite, Yale-educated writer for The New Yorker, I might be like, 'Oh, I can't believe that I'm playing this sloth.' But luckily I'm a big, dumb sloth from Chicago. So it's not a stretch, unfortunately," Ike explained to The Daily Beast in September.
