Broadway fans get ready: The iconic musical Phantom of the Opera is coming to television with the help of ABC.

According to TV Line, ABC has ordered a TV pilot of Phantom of the Opera. The new pilot comes from the Gaston Leroux's novel, but it will have a twist.

"[It will be set] in the sexy and cutthroat world of the modern-day music business," TV Line reported.

Sadly, the TV drama will not be a musical. It will, however, have elements similar to the musical parts of ABC's hit country show Nashville, according to the publication.

Phantom of the Opera was originally a novel that came to life on the Broadway stage and has become a fan favorite in the musical world. The story is about a young singer who becomes the object of a disfigured musical genius's eye as he watches her from beneath the Paris Opera House, where he resides.

In 2004, the Phantom show was reimagined as a movie starring Emmy Rossum as Christine and Gerard Butler as The Phantom. The film also starred Minnie Driver, Patrick Wilson and Miranda Richardson. The film featured the iconic music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The reimagined TV show comes from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry. Marc also signed a deal for another TV pilot earlier this fall with The CW. He'll be helping create Cheerleader Death Squad for the network, which is a thriller about a CIA agent who becomes a teacher and enlists students to become spies.

The Phantom of the Opera TV pilot will be written by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, according to TV Line. Marc and his partner Sabrina Wind will be executive producers on the pilot.
