USA and soccer haven't always gone hand-in-hand, but for the last decade or two one thing that has is their talent in the goalkeeping position. A good team starts from the back; luckily team USA have always had plenty of goalkeeping leadership, and it doesn't seem like that's about to change any time soon. Their international team is rapidly improving, as is their MLS division, despite the evident gulf in class between it and the English Premier League. Five goalkeepers are important to consider: Brad Friedel, Kasey Keller, Tim Howard, Brad Guzan and Charlie Horton, but why?

Friedel and Keller dominated the Premier League for years, and the pair ensured the U.S. never had a single worry in the goalkeeping position, but one can wonder, did they worry when this pair decided to put their gloves down for good? Evidently not, as they're closely working with the next generation of goalkeepers, meaning they know who's coming in long before their No. 1 GK has departed for good.

Currently Howard is their top shot-stopper, and after several seasons in the EPL, and a magnificent World Cup, he's easily considered as one of the twenty best GK in the world. The U.S. should have a few more years left with Tim, but where will they turn to next you ask? Guzan is making huge waves in the EPL, pulling off save after save, week in, week out, and he should easily step up to the plate.

U.S. soccer fans should keep their eyes on Horton. The top keeping prospect is highly regarded by many, and he has been involved in the USA U-23 team, as well as being a prospect that Cardiff City highly regard. One thing's for sure, while basketball, American football and baseball may remain the top dogs, their ball-handling skills will always help the U.S. with their soccer players, especially their keepers.
