Seth Meyers took on the creator of The West Wing, The Newsroom and Sports Night in a super-meta parody worthy of drama master Aaron Sorkin himself.

The Late Night star and his writing team cycled through all of the Sorkin-isms that are lodged firmly in pop culture lexicon.

What's that? Sorkin sketches have been done before? And before? And before? Sure, but this  one is pretty great.

In a frantic three-and-a-bit minutes Meyers walks viewers through the 'repeat', the 'walking and talking', the 'random handing off of a piece of paper from one individual to another', the 'quick glance at that piece of paper before handing it off to someone else' and, of course, the 'ping-pong dialogue'. Other highlights include the 'sudden fit in front of the entire office', the 'two characters flirting by arguing' and the 'impassioned speech given by a low level staff member that gradually softens the stance of his stern yet warm-hearted boss'.

The writers even discuss past Sorkin sketches and how best to incorporate Sorkin jokes into the scene, before Meyers himself sits down with the actual Aaron Sorkin to talk about involving him in the sketch. Sorkin points out that "30 Rock already did it, season five, episode 18; I was really funny in it."

It's a smart and very funny way to tackle intro-ing Sorkin, whose Newsroom is in its last season, and who recently went on Today and kinda-apologized to Mark Zuckerberg if he was offended by parts of the Sorkin-penned Social Network. Sorkin also intimated to the Los Angeles Times that once the Newsroom was done, he'd be stepping away from TV altogether, saying I'm pretty certain I'm about to write my last three episodes of television."
