On this week's Top Chef episode, "The First Thanksgiving," the chefs are back in their pad and drinking to the eliminated chef, Aaron. They're all happy he's gone because they hated his personality. Adam's happy he beat Doug because he thinks Doug's one of the more dominant chefs. Melissa reads a note her girlfriend gave her before she came on the show. When this happens on the show, it usually means Melissa is either going to win this week or go home.

Past Top Chef Season 1 contestant Tiffani Faison surprises the chefs in their abode and takes them on a road trip to a bog of cranberries. This, of course, is a product placement for Ocean Spray. The first four chefs to fill their crate with cranberries will get an advantage in the quickfire challenge. Katie, Adam, Gregory and Doug win.

Back at the kitchen, Padma's with Tiffani and they tell the chefs their challenge is to create a dish highlighting cranberries. The four who won get to use the high-end pantry, while the others have to use low-quality ingredients.

When the challenge starts, we already see some head-scratchers. Katie is making cranberry borscht, which sounds disgusting. Coming from a Russian family, I know that beets should be used for borscht, so I can't even imagine it with cranberries. Katsuji is using a tough skirt steak to make a tartar, which doesn't sound like it will be successful. Katsuji, Adam and Stacy are in the bottom, while Doug, Katie and Mei were the best.

The winner of immunity is ... Katie! I'm shocked and now I want to try that borscht.

For the elimination challenge, the chefs will head to Plymouth Rock, where they will have to cook a Thanksgiving dinner using only ingredients and utensils used in the 1600s, when the Pilgrims arrived on the Mayflower. They will serve in two separate groups.

Back at the house, Stacy seems really down because she has been on the bottom so many times. She goes to talk on Skype to her boyfriend, who's in the military and stationed overseas for the time being.

The chefs arrive at Plimoth Plantation and see they have to cook with fire pits, cast irons and wooden spoons. The ingredients they have aren't the traditional food used on Thanksgiving, including goose instead of turkey, clams, lobster, venison and rabbit. Melissa is the only one not using a protein in her dish.

Chef Ken Oringer comes in with Tom to check on the chefs. He will also be one of the judges for the challenge. Katsuji is having a hard time with the smoke going into his eyes while cooking with the cast irons over the fire. He comes up with his line of the night: "I guess some of the tears will give some flavor to my food." The chefs will serve not only to the judges, but also to the descendants of the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag tribe.

During the service, Katsuji's lobster dish is a big hit. Chef Ken jokes who would've thought a Mexican guy who cooks kosher food would turn someone from the Wampanoag tribe into loving lobster. The first group with Stacy, Katsuji, Doug and Melissa did really well with their dishes and impressed everyone. The second group of Gregory, Adam, Katie, Kerriann and Mei also did well. The only criticism they had was Gregory's goose may have been a little tough, but it would be a huge shocker if he were to go home.

At the judges' table, their favorite dishes were by Katsuji, Doug and Mei. The winning dish is ... Katsuji's lobster!

The losing dishes were by Melissa, Stacy and Gregory. The person Padma told to pack their knives and go is ... Stacy, for her clam dish. She takes some solace knowing that the judges liked all the dishes, but hers just fell short. She says in her interview that she's actually relieved to not have the pressure of being from Boston on her shoulders.
