Well, we can't say we didn't see this coming. After months of not so great news surrounding Aaron Sorkin's Steve Jobs biopic movie, Sony has let the project go. It probably wasn't too great when Leonardo DiCaprio and David Fincher left earlier this year and then Christian Bale also backed out, but there's still some hope for the ambitious film. With Michael Fassbender being rumored to star in the motion picture, with Danny Boyle directing, Universal this week has started talks to pick up the project. So we have some bad news followed by some good news!

This news came from Deadline, which reported on Sony dropping the movie and how Universal is "making a strong play" for the project. The story was later updated with news that Universal was very close to landing the movie, so maybe by the time you're done reading this sentence it could be set in stone!

Meanwhile, we recently reported on Sorkin saying Jobs' daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs, would serve as the heroine of the movie. That said, The Hollywood Reporter this week posted to Twitter that Scarlett Johansson was offered a role in the film, making us wonder if she'd be portraying Lisa. Would you like to see the Avengers starlet portray Fassbender's daughter (if the rumors are true, of course)?

So the film has hit yet another speed bump, but we also want to point out that it's been fast-tracked over the last few months so this might be a good little obstacle for the project. Stay tuned for more updates and casting rumors right here!
