This week's episode of the New Girl is all about Thanksgiving, but there's a twist. "Thanksgiving IV" reveals Schmidt's new holiday idea called "Bangs-Giving."

The episode begins with Schmidt wearing a pilgrim hat as he tries to announce his new holiday idea. The gang cant help but make fun of him calling him the "Jewish Pharrell," which he loves and a "Silly Billy." Despite the attempts to ruin his speech, Schmidt eventually tells the group that they are doing "bangs-giving" to help each other get laid.

Everyone then picks a name out of the pilgrim hat. Whoever they pick they have to bring a date for on the day of their party. Schmidt gets Cece, so he sets her up with Jeff, who is not at the party yet. Jess sets Winston up with Pearl, her school's lunch lady, while Winston sets Coach up with one of the police friends he has named Pepper.

Nick gets himself, so he brings Tran, his favorite old Asian man that he always goes to talk about his life issues with as his date. Cece sets Schmidt up with Lucy and Coach pulls a fast one on Jess and sets her up with Ryan, who she has already kissed, but is trying to stay away from because it is against the rules.

After things get off to a rocky start, the group meets on the roof to get the party back on track. Jess freaks out because Ryan is there and she is very attracted to him. The rest of the group votes that she just have sex with him to forget about him once and for all. Meanwhile, Coach is pissed that Pepper is super strong... stronger then him, while Winston for some reason is awkward about Pearl being a lunch lady.

The biggest issue is that Nick previously dated Lucy, who is Schmidt's date and he doesn't want him to hook up with her. The gang votes and Nick loses, so Schmidt can try and sleep with her. Cece is still alone, since Jeff is supposedly stuck in traffic.

Jess decides to take everyone's advice and she texts Ryan to meet her in her room. When he comes in she is wearing an apron and kitchen mittens. Ryan is confused about what is happening and after Jess lets it slip that they should just "bang it out," he is beyond offended and leaves. He wanted to have a real relationship with her!

Back to the rest of the group, Nick decides to hit on Cece to make Schmidt jealous and stop him from having sex with Lucy. After Nick takes Cece into his room under false pretenses, Schmidt storms in and starts to hit him. He knows he wasn't actually doing anything with her, but he is concerned why Nick didn't bring a girl with him.

It comes out that all the girls he has been hooking up with since he broke up with Jess are not good people for him and he is scared to try and date a woman of higher caliber. Aw, Nick, he is such a sweetheart!

In the kitchen Winston admits to Pearl that he had a bad incident with his high school lunch lady and she reassures them that they are no longer called lunch ladies and his fears go out the window. Meanwhile on the roof, Pepper lets Coach win a game of arm wrestling and they start to make out.

As Jess is sulking, Nick talks to her and tells her that she needs to let herself like Ryan and not be afraid. He tries to use Ferris Bueller's Day Off as a way to tell her that rules are meant to be broken but he realizes that she is the only person in the world who loves principal Rooney in the movie. He then perfectly quotes Ferris and inspires Jess to go talk to Ryan.

When she arrives at his house she tells him she brought him pie and that she is sorry. She really likes him and wants to date him too. He goes to forgive her and realizes that the pie tray is empty! When she starts to leave he pulls her in and starts kissing her. It is "bangs-giving" so they should probably honor the holiday of their forefathers.

Back to Nick, he talks to Tran about life and love and reveals that he is going to start dating again. Just then Tran's granddaughter, who is really cute, comes to pick him up and Nick takes it as a sign and gets her number.

In the final moments of the episode Schmidt is alone after his date dumps him because he is Jewish. Cece's date still hasn't shown, but it's okay. When Jeff does come, Cece pretends that she doesn't speak English and sends him away so she can spend the night hanging out with Schmidt. It is adorable and sweet to see them together again.
