Cleveland Browns fans are ready for 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel to take over for Brian Hoyer, who has struggled mightily after a hot start, according to USA Today.

Browns head coach Mike Pettine named Hoyer the starter of the rookie Manziel at the start of the season. Manziel was already one of the most famous and popular football players in the country after an illustrious career at Texas A&M earned him the nickname Johnny Football.

But Hoyer performed well, leading the Browns to a 6-3 start before the wheels began to fall apart.

Cleveland is now 1-3 in its last four games, and ESPN reports that Hoyer has led the Browns to just one touchdown drive in his last 29 series.

With pressure mounting to make a change, Pettine stuck with Hoyer Sunday, Dec. 7, against the Indianapolis Colts. He went just 14 for 31 for 140 yards, throwing two interceptions. The game was only close because Cleveland's defense put up 14 points.

Pettine was vague again Monday, Dec. 8, at a press conference, not committing to a change. But he said Manziel would be "absolutely" ready to take the reins if Pettine chose to go that direction, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Manziel won the Heisman two years ago today. He was taken with the 22nd pick in the first round of the NFL Draft in May. He has completed five passes in nine attempts for 63 yards this season.

"It's [coach Mike Pettine's] decision, and I respect his decision," Hoyer told espn.com. "For me, I just have to keep the same mentality. This is about being mentally tough. If anything, I think I've proven I can handle that. I'll keep the same attitude."

"It's crazy how fast things changed," Hoyer continued. "I feel like four or five weeks ago we're talking about contract talks. Now we're talking about if I'm even going to be staying here."

Cleveland hosts Cincinnati Sunday, Dec. 14.
