Season 3 of The Americans continues with the spy couple going on their new mission on FX. With their covers blown by someone unsuspecting, Will Elizabeth (Keri Russell) and Philip (Matthew Rhys) Jennings find themselves being "gunned down" by Martha Hanson (Alison Wright )?

In our previous recap, while Elizabeth took the newly baptized Paige (Holly Taylor) on a road trip, Gabriel (Frank Langella) dropped a huge bombshell on Philip; he has another son. Manipulated by Gabriel, Philip was unable to tell Elizabeth before about the shocking news. Philip had to go to his target, Kimberly (Julia Garner) instead and asked her to pray with him for the son he never raised.

In our recent recap, Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich) and his fellow FBI agents discovered a bug had been planted inside the director's pen. Realizing she put the recording device there, Martha became a nervous wreck as she hid in the bathroom, wondering what else Clarke (Rhys) has been lying to her. While Philip came clean to Elizabeth about his other son, Martha pulled out a handgun from her drawer.

In an interview with TV Line, Wright reveals if Martha will pull the trigger, "I was going to give you the same quote about Chekhov's gun. What I can say about it is, again, some unconscious instinct that she has - whether it was the slaughter of that family in Alexandria or something about her own personal situation - has made her feel unsafe and like she may need to be able to protect herself. Something has made her feel unsafe. Whether that's Clark or the situation, we don't know yet."

In an interview with Vulture, Emmerich, the director of the episode, reveals how he shot the scene with Wright in the suspenseful bathroom scene, "I didn't have a shot list or a storyboard, but I knew it would be a lot of high and low angles, and maybe they'd be more extreme, exaggerated angles than we're used to on this show, because they're expressing that sort of paranoid, scared state Martha's in. You know, that was a set that we built! I had a very specific notion of how I wanted the set to be so that we could shoot in it, and I worked with a production designer in terms of how to build that set; the lines that we wanted, the depth we wanted."
