Based on the popular sci-fi franchise from creator George Lucas, Marvel Comics continues the popular Star Wars comics with Darth VaderR2-D2 and C-3PO may take center stage in the second printing but these aren't the droids you're looking for (see what I did there) in writer Kieron Gillen and artist Salvador Larroca's Darth Vader #3.

As we previously mentioned, the most vile villain in the entire galaxy was getting his own series, entitled Darth Vader #1. The story takes place after the ending of A New Hope and straight from from pages of the Star Wars series. Gillen and Larroca have entertained readers with an inside peek behind Vader's mask.

In the plot synopsis, the mystery begins surrounding the character known as Aphra. Why does the Dark Lord need help from the renegade weapons archaeologist? After suffering a major defeat at the hands of the Rebel Alliance, Vader's quest to reclaim his glory takes him directly into the path of this brand new Star Wars character.

According to Bleeding Cool, while the issue is about Dr. Aphra's first appearance, the installment also marks the introduction of evil C-3PO and R2-D2. Ever since Phantom Menace, Vader had the desire to build robots, who would become his allies. These new assassin droids are named  O-O-O and BT-1.

Don't forget to check out our MStars review of Star Wars #1. We loved how writer Jason Aaron brought to life the characters with his snappy dialogue. The love/hate banter between Leia and Han is back again, and the battle between Chewbacca and Darth Vader is definitely must-read material. In every single panel, John Cassady's artwork is glossy and painterly, especially when it comes down to the action sequences.

Darth Vader #3 returns to comic shops with its second printing this April.

Readers, what do you think of the new driods?
