CBS' 'Supergirl' Cast: Melissa Benoist, Calista Flockhart Hit 2015 San Diego Comic-Con Before Premiere!

Before its the official October premiere date, CBS is bringing their DC Comics superhero drama Supergirl to 2015 San Diego Comic-Con. Get ready to meet the cast of Supergirl as Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, and Calista Flockhart discuss playing their comic book counterparts.

As we previously mentioned, the CBS superhero drama will follow the comic book adventures of Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped before its destruction. While living on Earth, Kara has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at the tender age of 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was always meant to be.

According to Variety, convention-goers should get ready for Super Hero Saturday Night on July 11:

"Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment will again welcome fans into the worlds of some of DC Comics' greatest characters during a three-hour super-experience. The exclusive evening will feature a pilot screening of the highly anticipated new action series Supergirl, followed by a Q&A with stars and producers; plus, individual special video presentations and Q&As with stars and producers from Arrow, The Flash and Gotham. Also, don't miss a special Q&A with cast and producers of DC's Legends of Tomorrow and a peek at the new digital series Vixen."

As we previously mentioned, costume designer Colleen Atwood described her approach to the superheroine's look, "I feel like there's a real love for Americana with Supergirl, and I wanted to really embrace that heart of women - there's enough skin out there in the world, it's not for everybody and Melissa was just the right person to pull it off. When I read the script I was just really blown away by how strong it was, and I wanted the character to have a strength and presence of self without a bunch of stuff."
