IDW Publishing  brings in the pulse-pounding scares with The X-Files Season 11 #2. In the first installment, FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) find themselves "Home Again" by writer Joe Harris and artist Matthew Dow Smith

In our MStars interview at Special Edition: NYC, Harris described his love for the Monster-of-the-Week standalones and the mythology episodes, "I love them both because together that's what The X-Files is. We're trying to recreate that feeling where you would watch a season's worth of episodes and really look forward to the continuation of the mythology. But man, were those standalone episodes awesome with some creepy stuff going on! So I want to maintain that."

As we previously mentioned, in the eleventh season premiere, Mulder found himself running from the law as a wanted fugitive. Though she is clear from all charges, the all-powerful Gibson Praise is keeping an eye on Scully as she works nonstop to clear Mulder's name. With everyone around them being controlled by Gibson ike puppets, how long before Mulder and Scully realize they have outlived their usefulness?

Harris brings back a familiar face from Home, the much-talked about episode which was slapped with a TV-MA rating. Harris balances the issue as a refresher course to the incestuous Peacock family to longtime fans and introducing a frightening villain to new readers. Playing around with themes of motherhood and the desire to live, Harris builds the suspenseful confrontation with the murderous Peacocks, who represent the dark side of the nuclear family.

I personally enjoyed the fact that Smith went for atmosphere in his artwork, instead of graphic violence for the installment. Remembering the episode Home, this critic felt the episode was too gross in its portrayal of violence, especially in the '90s. Smith captures the eerie isolation of the vast Nebraska farmland in the opening pages.

RATING: Take My Money Already

With the highly anticpated revival of The X-Files coming up in 2016, readers should definitely pick up The X-Files: Season 11 #2
