Newcastle might feel a bit embarrassed heading into this match because they lost to Championship League team Sheffield in the League Cup this week. So how will they do against the defending Premier League champs?

We have to try and turn it around on Saturday against Chelsea, with 50,000 Geordies being that extra man that we really need right now," said Tim Krul, Newcastle's keeper. "Hopefully they will give us the confidence and lift we need. We need them behind us but we need to show them something, too, and give them something to shout about. It is a two-way street. Saturday is a new game and we have to show the fans fight and passion, and everybody needs to put in a proper performance."

In light of striker Diego Costa's three-match suspension from the FA, coach Jose Mourinho has not decided which of his players will start the game, but is happy with the choices he has to make.

"I don't know, I could tell you I know but I don't," he explained. "I have to keep analyzing the opponent, I have to try to know more about them, who is playing, who is not playing, who is injured, who plays with Coloccini in central defense? Mbemba, Williamson or another one? I have to try to know a bit more to make my decision. All of them are good players, we have good strikers."
