Comedian Aziz Ansari appeared on Tuesday night's episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to discuss his new Netflix series, Master of None. During the interview, the comedian, perhaps unexpectedly, brought up the issue of CBS' lack of diversity, noting that even the Late Show has "a lot of white guys" backstage. To that, the former Colbert Report host asked if having Ansari on at all makes up for his new network's diversity issue.

Noting that Colbert being the first late night talk show host from South Carolina was exciting news for him, as Ansari is also from the state, the Parks and Recreation star seemed to take issue with the fact that he was also the "bagillionth" white guy to take the title of late night host.

"You've talked about not enough people of minorities represented on television," Colbert said, adding, "Is having you on my show- does that count at all?"

The two then joked that with the host trying to do his part and having Ansari on the show, 50% of the people on the television screen at the time were not white. "This is like an all-time high for CBS," Ansari said. To which Colbert gave a perfectly-timed glance to the camera as to say, "Yeah, you're right."

Ansari's new Netflix series is currently streaming online. Find out more from the comedian over on his site.

Be sure to tune into The Late Show weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
