NBC captivated audiences with the winter finale of Blindspot. When the show returns from hiatus, will Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) and Sullivan Stapleton (Kurt Weller) find themselves in a rematch with Kate Williams (Heidi Germaine Schnappauf)?

As we previously mentioned, Patterson's (Ashley Johnson) seemingly unemployed but forever loyal ex-boyfriend David (Joe Dinicol) was killed off. David went rogue to crack a code and win back Patterton, but ended up with his throat slit. It seemed like the end for incarcerated crime boss Saul Guerrero (Lou Diamond Philips)., The corrupt CIA deputy director Carter (Michael Gaston) orchestrated Saul's hit behind bars. After water-boarding Jane, Carter met his own demise as he was shot down by an assassin. Recognizing the face of Carter's assassin, Jane watched a recording she made herself, explaining she has orchestrated everything.

During the winter finale, Jane Doe tracked down Kate first and found herself in a serious brawl. Kate attempted to stab Jane with a certain needle. Just when things looked their worst, Weller grabbed Kate, turned the needle on herm and threw her body over a railing into water; presumably she's actually dead.

According to Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room, should audiences be thinking that Kate Williams is sinking down to the bottom of the waters? It's clear that viewers haven't seen the last of that storyline. But when the winter hiatus is over and the show broadcasts new episodes, should we expect to find out who Kate was taking orders from on the phone?

Creator/showrunner Martin Gero teases, "The Russian spy ring, that story is not over, but that person is not important."

We also mentioned, the top-rated new series has been granted an early second season renewal order. Nearly three months into its first season, the order for more episodes came at a time when shows were being trimmed. The current episode count for the freshmen drama has been upped to 23.
