Although A.K.A. Jessica Jones was released barely a month ago, Netflix's comic book shows are among the greatest things happening at the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Hell's Kitchen is about to get more crowded in the Daredevil season 2, with Elektra and The Punisher bringing their A-game to face Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock.

To end the year with not one but two exclusives about Marvel (after the first pictures of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange), Entertainment Weekly also recently launched the first previews of two additions to Netflix's first Marvel show, straight from the comic books: Frank Castle/The Punisher (played by Jon Bernthal) and Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung).

Daredevil showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez spoke to the magazine about the show's upcoming second season, which is expected to be released sometime in the next spring, revealing a bit further about how these two characters will unravel within the show's universe.

The show will bring a classic character from the comic books into the MCU, officially introducing Elektra to the Hell's Kitchen Matt so desperately tries to save. You might remember the character as portrayed (very differently) by Jennifer Garner in the infamous Daredevil adaptation where she met her now estranged husband, Ben Affleck.

In the original comic books, Elektra is a highly skilled mercenary whose trademark weapon is a bladed sai, and who has a dark family history after her father was kidnapped and murdered, something that turned her hopeless and evil – besides Matt's ultimate enemy/lover, not much unlike Batman's relationship with Catwoman.

Things might get trickier with Matt now that Elektra is back on his life. As teased in the first season, the character has already met Matt in the series' arc, as she was his college girlfriend, and apparently things already got complicated back then.

"Matt's a deeply moral complicated guy and she's just the best bad girlfriend you can possibly have," said Petrie of Elektra's appearance in the show's second season, via IGN. "She does everything wrong and attractive, she's his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He's both repulsed and deeply drawn to that."

It seems like fans can expect things to get steamy between Matt and Elektra, developing a love triangle with Karen (Deborah Ann Woll), who's obviously pretty smitten with the lawyer/superhero.
