John Wall is irked about how the voting for the NBA All-Star game is conducted. The league released the early voting results for this years game over last weekend. The point guard for the Washington Wizards was in fifth place, trailing Dwyane Wade, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Lowry and Jimmy Butler for the Eastern Conference backcourt. Wall took exception to being behind Irving and called voting a joke.

It's a joke," Wall said, via CSN Washington. "I played like horsesh*t the first month and a half but I still was averaging like 16 and 8. That's not bad numbers."

Wall, a two time All Star, is now averaging 19.5 points and 9.7 assists on the year, according to SB Nation. But perhaps the thing that peeved the guard more than anything was the fact that Kyrie Irving was placed so high, currently in at second place, even though he's only played in 3 of the Cavaliers games all season long.

"I guess it's the [Cavaliers'] record," Wall said, via CSN Washington. "No offense to Kyrie, he's played [three] games. If he was healthy, he probably would be in that position because he'd be playing well. I can see him there because that's how talented he is."

It's true, voting players in for the All Star game often turns in to something of a popularity contest (isn't that what an All Star game is, though?). Fans vote in players they find deserving, or that they'd simply like to watch gallivant around the court a little. Voting is easy too, with a surplus of options. You can register a vote via almost any form of social media -- Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, through a text or on the NBA's website -- making it so that you don't have to leave that comfy spot on the couch next to your cat; it's great!

Does Wall have a legitimate gripe against the system? Sure. But it's an All Star game, and it's what the people want. While you don't want anyone deserving to be left out of the festivities, you also want to see the game's most exciting players. Even if that player has only played 3 games all year long.

What do you think?  Is Wall's gripe legitimate?  Or is this a case of sour grapes?
