Cate Blanchett will be making her Broadway debut this winter. The 46-year old current Best Actress Oscar nominee for Carol will star in The Present, a play written by her husband, screenwriter Andrew Upton. The show is an adaption of Anton Chekhov's Platonov which has already been in production to sold-out audiences at the Sydney Theatre Company in Australia for which Blanchett and Upton have served as co-artistic directors. According to reports, 26 different critics' circles have chosen their picks for the best achievements in film for the year, and when all of the wins are accounted for, Tom McCarthy's "Spotlight" comes out on top. The film topped the list for Best Picture 14 times, with the closest competition being "Mad Max: Fury Road," which has eight wins. Other big winners include Brie Larson and Leonardo DiCaprio. MStars News has learned that one of the six teenage girls who participated in a brutal attack at a McDonald's in Brooklyn is finally speaking out after being charged for the fight. According to Inside Edition, 17-year-old Tilani Marshall was arrested along with five other high school girls after severely beating 15-year-old Arianna Taylor. Read More »
The 'Biggest Party of the Summer' has returned to the Big Apple after a 16-year absence, but if you haven't gotten your ticket yet, then you're out of luck. Tickets for SummerSlam, WWE's second-biggest card of the year, sold out "immediately" after going on sale to the general public Saturday, March 14, according to SEScoops. What happens when U.K. royalty meets the U.S. verison? Well, we found out last night as Jay-Z and Beyoncé met British royal couple Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton, with the royal visit to New York City scoring a meeting between royalty from both sides of the Atlantic. The two couples hung out at last night's game between LeBron James's Cleveland Cavaliers and the Brooklyn Nets, while protests were staged outside the arena. Brooklyn's own royal couple — hip-hop kingpin Jay-Z and Queen of R&B Beyoncé — took the opportunity to meet William and Kate on the court before the start of the fourth quarter of the game, and the two power couples chatted and exchanged pleasantries in a meeting of two different worlds. As the royal pair entered the arena in the third quarter, the majority of the Brooklyn crowd stood to watch the royal pair take their seats amid much security and photo-taking, as a buzz hit the arena as though it was an NBA playoff game. Royalty will visit Brooklyn today: in a couple of forms. Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and his wife Duchess Kate Middleton will head to Barclays Center to watch the Brooklyn Nets take on NBA royalty in King LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers. The normally unflappable King James, it seems, is a little bit awed by the guests, too, calling it a "huge honor" to be in attendance with the royal couple, who are expecting their second baby, a sibling to baby Prince George, in a matter of months.
