Sam Smith is Singing the New James Bond Theme Song for 'Spectre'

By Jon Niles | Sep 08, 2015 11:00 PM EDT

Perhaps the biggest news surrounding any James Bond film in the long line of iconic movies is that of the title track for the project. Theme songs for these 007 spy films are as important as the cast, directors and scripts of each movie, so we're excited that the upcoming 2015 Sam Mendes film, Spectre, starring Daniel Craig as Bond, has Grammy winner Sam Smith as its theme singer! Rumors around the artist that would take on this song spread rapidly earlier this year, with Smith remaining a frontrunner for quite some time. Taking to Twitter, the singer announced Spectre's theme song, "Writing's on the Wall." Our first listen of the song comes later this month, but pre-orders are available now! By Jon Niles | Sep 01, 2015 11:00 PM EDT

According to the author, the Star Trek Beyond actor is too "street" and not "suave" enough for the role! Twitter users have reacted in the funniest ways after this quote spread around the Internet. Acclaimed Selma leading man David Oyelowo was this week announced as the official voice of James Bond, agent 007 in an upcoming audiobook based on the Ian Fleming novels that have since turned into a franchise of successful movies. He won't replace Daniel Craig on the big screen after 2015's Spectre, but he will be remembered as the voice of Bond in Trigger Mortis, written by Anthony Horowitz. Considering this is part of a hot topic, we have to wonder if Idris Elba was considered for this voice acting work after making headlines as a possible Craig replacement.
