Microsoft launched the Xbox One back in 2013, but also announced a slew of projects that were even more exciting than a new gaming console. One of which was a new television series airing on Showtime based on the popular video game franchise Halo, which would involve legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg! Since this announcement, we've seen Halo: Nightfall and Forward Unto Dawn, which had fans of the series figuring the Spielberg project was never going to happen. Perhaps one of the biggest video gaming franchises has to be the Lara Croft series. A recent reboot gave the character a great new origin story, but we didn't really see any of the "raiding" that was so attractive about the first games. Well, in the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider video game, we'll get plenty more of Lara exploring mixed in with plenty of action. Square Enix announced last year that the highly anticipated video game Rise of the Tomb Raider would be released as an Xbox exclusive through Microsoft. This doesn't mean PC and PlayStation won't get the game, because they will, but just not in 2015. Why was this decision made though? While Yahoo was in a bidding war to buy Twitch, Amazon stepped in, brokering up its own deal of about $1 billion dollars. With the buyout taking place, Twitch's very own CEO, Emmet Shear and Michael Frazzini, vice of president of Amazon Games, promises that this buyout will not harm the way PlayStation and Xbox users use the game-streaming service.
