Have you ever gone to a VIP club in New York City with professional dancers, employed by the clubs themselves? These dancers are the ones who shimmy around on table tops or cages, in costumes of sequins and feathers. Well, chances are, those extravagant costumes are all made by Carmela Lane. According to "THUMP," Carmela is a 36-year-old Brazilian native who designs all the outrageously sexy costumes for most of New York's high-end clubs: Marquee, PH-D at Dream Downtown, TAO, Lavo and Avenue. She has dressed dancers for club nights headlined by Avicii, Afrojack and Tiesto, a private auction on Leonardo DiCaprio's birthday and even the stages at Ultra Music Festival. Read More »

A decade has passed since Karl Lagerfeld did a one-off collaboration for Swedish retailer H&M and the fashion industry has never been the same. "I never expected it to make such a splash," said Lagerfeld. "Inexpensive is not 'cheap' anymore, that's why the luxury industry has to make an even bigger effort. I think all that is very healthy." R&B superstar Beyoncé Knowles and London-based Topshop have formed a 50-50 joint venture company — Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd. — to produce an athletic streetwear brand. Conceptual streetwear brand Hood by Air is heading back to Manhattan for the third and final part of its spring show on October 30, in collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art. The event, officially entitled "MoMA PopRally Presents Hood By Air: Id," (the first two parts were called "Ego" and "Superego") will be open to the public and tickets can be purchased through MoMA for $25.
