Has The Sale Of Luis Suarez Ruined Liverpool?

By Kenneth Brown | Nov 23, 2014 05:22 PM EST

When Liverpool sold Luis Suarez and Brendan Rodgers replaced him with Adam Lallana and Mario Balotelli, many knew they'd suffer, but nobody predicted their terrible start to the season would be this bad. But the coach has admitted it's his fault, and that so far their Premier League campaign has been an abject "failure." Can Liverpool recover from this poor spell, and is Rodgers at risk of losing his job? Rodgers insisted: "We are very disappointed with the performance and the result, and as the manager it is something I need to take full responsibility for. We need to find a solution quickly because this is very disappointing, and we have no one but ourselves to blame. We had to make changes in the summer and are near enough entering a transition phase. But whatever phase, we have to be better than that." Has he been through a worse time at the club, you ask? He continued, according to the BBC: "This is the worst run my team has been on and the only way out is working together. We have to improve and very, very quickly because the games come thick and fast." Read More »

Lionel Messi Tops David Moyes With La Liga Record

By Kenneth Brown | Nov 23, 2014 01:37 PM EST

David Moyes just can't catch a break, can he? The new Real Sociedad manager made his coaching debut for the La Liga side and all eyes were on him, but as he usually does, Lionel Messi stole the show shortly before, according to the BBC. His hat trick in a 5-1 win for Barcelona ensured that he became the all-time top scorer for La Liga with 253 goals. With this record in place, Spain and the world soon forgot about the ex-Manchester United manager as all took joy in watching Messi make history, adding to the view that he's the best player to ever play the game. Messi was one short of the record, but a free-kick put him on level terms, and his two second-half goals ensured the 27-year-old will forever be a La Liga legend, according to the BBC. His coach, Luis Enrique, told the BBC: "He's a unique player — there'll never be anyone like him and we're lucky to enjoy his presence here. I think he will leave the record unreachable for anyone else. Zarra beat it in an age when there were more forwards than defenders." Read More »

Arsene Wenger Slams Wayne Rooney's Manchester United And His 'Naive' Arsenal Team

By Kenneth Brown | Nov 23, 2014 12:35 PM EST

Wayne Rooney has forever been a thorn in Arsene Wenger's Arsenal, and he has once again come back to haunt them. Despite Manchester United perhaps being second best, they grabbed a 2-1 win at Emirates Stadium, largely due to Rooney's influence. Louis Van Gaal earned his first away win with the club, but Wenger wasn't prepared to praise his opponents, suggesting it was Arsenal errors that cost them this vital Premier League game. Wenger hit out at both his team and opponents, saying to the BBC: "At the moment defensively we are a bit naive. It's a game that we dominated for 80 percent of the time and we haven't dominated a game like that against Manchester United for a long time. At the end of the day we were not efficient enough in the final third, or defensively, and we made a mistake at the back, which they took advantage of. Once we were 1-0 down, we had possession in the final third that they had to defend. We missed a few opportunities in the second half, even in the final 20 minutes." Read More »
