On Monday (July 8), an unauthorized (and apparently unfinished) music video for Kanye West's new hit single "Black Skinhead" leaked online. But it's not the REAL version. Yeezy recently made fans aware of that fact on Twitter. The "Yeezus" rapper claims that he and photographer Nick Knight have been working thier butts off on this video for months... and it's "heartbreaking" that someone would go behind their backs like that. And just for good measure, West tweeted a big "fuk you" to however leaked the unofficial version of "Black Skinhead." The real clip should be ready to premiere sometime by next week. Read More »
As if we haven't been waiting for a Pusha-T album for years, the "Who I am" rapper goes and delays his debut solo album My Name Is My Name again-but for understandable reasons. Timbaland is having an epic year. The super producer already executively produced one of the top albums of 2013 in February, with Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience, now he adds his talent to Jay-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail. In a recent interview with Revolt TV, Timbaland opened up about working on both albums; he addressed Kanye dissing "Suit & Tie," and The 20/20 Experience 2, and talked for the first time about a rough patch in he and Jay-Z's personal relationship. Kanye West's new 2013 album Yeezus may have topped the album charts in its first week, but it looks like its second week wasn't so kind. Not even praise from legendary artist Lou Reed could help West's Yeezus from tumbling down the album charts. West has had his fair share of critics for his "confidence" and ego that he has been portraying in interviews. For West's critics, this may be some payback. Apparently, fans aren't to interesting in hearing the good news about Yeezus. After the tightly maintained air of mystery surrounding the album dissapated, fans found a challenging album with no apparent radio-friendly songs. Himanshu (Heems) came to fame as a member of oddball rap duo Das Racist. Now, he releases solo mixtapes and (apparently) reviews J. Cole's Born Sinner for artist-on-artist review site The Talkhouse. Since the website had a watershed moment yesterday via Lou Reed's review of Yeezus it makes sense that the website would want to put out Kanye competitor Cole's album next. In the review, Heems gives a history of indie rock and rap collaborations and let's it be known that he is not a fan of the "Crooked Smile" rapper. Read More »
"Bad" rapper Wale has debuted on the top of the Billboard 200 for the first time. The D.C. musician's third studio album The Gifted is the No. 1 album in the country this week, according to Billboard.com. The album sold 158,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Read More »
