After the "Outlast 2" trailer was released, fans couldn't wait to get their hands on the new game. The sequel will be set out of Mount Massive Asylum and will feature a rural setting in the Arizona desert. The game will throw players in the middle of nowhere to deal with psychological breakdown and killer psychopaths.

"Outlast 2" will be coming to PS4, PC, and XBOX this 2017. Fans have been waiting for this sequel for a long time, after its initial 2016 release date was postponed. The announcement trailer did not show any gameplay features, but it was enough to clue fans to the fact that the new game would no longer be held in the Mount Massive Asylum, where the first "Outcast" game was played.

Den of Geek revealed that "Outcast 2" will definitely feature some female characters. The setting is the Northern Arizona desert, so the new game will play into the middle-of-nowhere horror fear. The first game was set in an asylum, but this rural setting brings an entirely new set of psychological horror.

The first "Outcast 2" gameplay trailer also reveals that the game still features first person exploration. The player's character is stuck in this small town where residents have been killed by some madman. Where the first game revolved around an asylum overrun by homicidal patients, the next game hints at a religious overtone (or just a crazed preacher).

According to Engadget, Philippe Morin, the "Outlast 2" game creator, the next game will be more psychological. "Internally what we've been saying is, the first Outlast was meant to take away your physical integrity, and the second Outlast will take your mental integrity," he said. The sequel game is meant to test the player's psychological strength against going crazy in an isolated town.

Morin has been involved in many successful games like "Assassin's Creed" and "Uncharted". He said that the first "Outlast" game was reliant on jump scares and creepy-looking people doing disturbing things. "Outlast 2" will be scarier because Morin had turned up the notch when it comes to psychological horror.

The "Outlast 2" gameplay features will also be quite different. Players will find a camcorder that will allow them to record their own journey. They can re-watch these scenes, complete with their commentary. The new game will also involve some supernatural elements such as ghosts and strange monsters from underground. Of course, it also adds the mystery of whether the player is just imagining it or not.
