Moto G5 has been announced by Lenovo at the Mobile Word Congress this year. The predecessor, Moto G4 was announced around a year back and both phones offer similar specifications. So which one is a better buy?

Moto G4 has a 5.5-inch full HD display with a Gorilla Glass 3 protected IPS LCD screen. The display has 401 ppi pixel density. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 (4x1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.2 GHz Cortex-A53), which has Adreno 405 onboard.

The Moto G4 has a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED (dual tone) flash. The front camera is a 5MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture and has auto-HDR. The smartphone has a non-removable 3000 mAH battery and supports fast charging.

The phone comes with two variants with 16/ 32GB internal memory and 2GB RAM. The Moto G4 has a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion. The smartphone has been updated to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat.

The Moto G5 is smaller than the Moto G4 and has a 5-inch full HD display. The screen has a pixel density of 441 ppi and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The phone is beautifully crafted and has a metal build with a fingerprint sensor on the front, reported Pocket-lint.

The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 with Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU, reported Recombu. The SOC has Adreno 505 chip for graphics. The Moto G5 comes with 16GB internal memory and 2GB RAM, 32GB storage with 3GB RAM. The storage can be expanded via microSD card slot.

The camera setup remains unchanged from the Moto G4 and the Moto G5 also features a 13MP camera at the back and 5MP camera at the front. The Moto G5 features a fingerprint sensor on the front. The battery capacity has been reduced to 2800 mAH but this time the battery is removable.

Both the devices have similar features and Moto G5 makes several improvements over its predecessor mainly in the terms of design. It also offers a sharper display, a fingerprint sensor, more RAM and feels more premium. However, the Moto G4 has a larger battery, a larger display and a larger internal storage model.
