Fox had high hopes for the 2015 reboot of "Fantastic Four," with a sequel already planned before its theatrical release. While the plan was scrapped due to poor ticket sales and dismal reviews, the studio is still keeping the franchise at bay, waiting for the perfect moment to release another take on "Fantastic Four."

During an interview for the movie "Logan," Collider had a chance to ask producer Simon Kinberg about the state of "Fantastic Four," as well as future plans. According to Kinberg, Fox still wants to make another "Fantastic Four" movie, and they plan to use the lessons learned from their previous outing with the franchise to make a better film.

Regarding the question of 'when' will the world see another "Fantastic Four" film, Kinberg was honest enough to say that the studio has no timeframe yet for it. However, he did confirm that they will have one once it is ready. Kinberg also added that Fox wants to make sure "Fantastic Four" gets done as perfect as possible, as it might be their last chance with the fans.

Playing with the idea of a new "Fantastic Four" reboot, Screen Rant released a new list of possible actors to take on the role of the titular cosmic heroes and Doctor Doom. Some of the names include Joseph Gordon-Levitt and John Krasinski for Reed Richards (aka Mister Fantastic), Carey Mulligan and Eliza Coupe for Sue Storm (aka Invisible Woman), Sam Claflin and Damon Wayans Jr. as Johnny Storm (aka Human Torch) and Vin Diesel  and Jeffrey Dean Morgan for the role of Ben Grimm (aka The Thing). In the case of Victor Von Doom, or more commonly known as Doctor Doom, Joaquin Phoenix and Vincent Cassel are tied up to the role.

2015's "Fantastic Four" reboot, despite having a strong cast, was not received well by audiences. Criticisms include its darker tone, characterization and use of special effects. It even won several categories in the 36th "Razzie" awards.
