Wireless subscriber Verizon finally releases the much-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat for its Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge device. After Samsung rolled out the update for its flagship devices back in January, the largest of the "Big 4" mobile providers in the U.S. followed its competitors in providing the update.

Included on this update that Verizon rolled out is the new battery-saving system, the Instant Apps feature and enhanced user interface and notification alerts, among others. According to Tech Times, the update also adds the split-screen mode for Android-powered units, although many of Samsung's hardware already have the feature built into their smartphones.

Another interesting bit for Verizon's Nougat update is the removal of the "go90" app for the said devices. As reported by Slash Gear, Verizon is slowly shutting down its own video streaming service that was released in 2015, and the update is just another nail to its coffin.

Known to take its time in adapting changes compared to its competitors, Verizon came in far behind AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile in providing the Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Recently, Verizon was also the last of the country's biggest mobile carriers, nicknamed the "Big 4", to adapt the unlimited data scheme for its users.

Officially unveiled on August 2016, the Android 7.0-7.1.2 OS, nicknamed "Nougat", is Google's seventh OS since initial launch. One of its key features is the inclusion of the "Daydream" Virtual Reality network, supporting VR headsets and controllers into its network. This allows users to experience VR at a 20 ms latency, translating to a pretty good time with the VR. Unfortunately, Samsung's current flagship devices do not support the VR feature, though future releases may cater to this technology.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users under the Verizon network could check their settings for the availability of the update, or wait for the notification from Verizon.
