‘Dawn of War III’ News: ‘Warhammer 40K’ Game Combines 'DoW' 1 & 2 Features for April Launch

Game publisher Sega just announced that "Dawn of War III" will be released on April 27. Fans don't have to wait long for the newest "Warhammer 40K" real-time strategy game. It will include the Space Marines of the Blood Ravens, the Eldar, and the Orks and will feature the large armies of the first game and the special elite forces of the second one.

The third standalone game in the "Dawn of War" series that belongs to the "Warhammer 40,000" universe is ready to be played this spring. Produced by Sega and Relic Entertainment, "Dawn of War III" will first be made available for Microsoft Window users. According to Polygon, the new game will revolve heavily around the base building and fight against the Eldar and Orks for territories and resources.

The game's developers promised that the "Dawn of War III" gameplay will bring in all the things that users loved in the first and second "Dawn of War" games. There will be large-scale battles and powerful elite forces in the third game, which will be bigger in scope. Hero arcs will be played side by side a bigger quest for a powerful weapon.

According to Venture Beat, Philippe Boulle, the game's director, had been working on "Dawn of War III" for over two and a half years. Boulle worked before on the previous "Dawn of War" games as well as "Company of Heroes 2". He revealed that the newest game was built with the Essence Engine, which they also used to create the other games in the series.

Boulle also said that many fans loved the special elite forces in the second "Dawn of War" game, so they brought the concept back for "Dawn of War III". He said that the developers wanted to pair that up with the large armies that were prominent in the first game way back in 2004.

As for the story behind the game, Boulle explained that the planet Acheron contains a powerful weapon, which is coveted by the three races in "Dawn of War III". The "Warhammer 40K" universe is one of the few RTS (real-time strategy) games today. The industry is growing, though, as more and more players are exposed to the "Warhammer" universe.
