Studio Wildcard is pushing through with the update for their action-survival game "Ark: Survival Evolved." This comes after a server for the PlayStation 4 version unexpectedly went down, causing some players to lose their save files.

As reported by the Daily Express, PS4 servers 225-228 had a critical hardware failure during their back up process. This meant that the server won't be accessible for the time being, leaving "Ark: Survival Evolved" players who have save files assigned to the said servers no access to their current progress. And since the damage struck while transferring the data from the main to the backup, all hopes of retrieving a previous file would be out of the question.

Studio Wildcard acknowledges the possible frustration the players will have, as "Ark: Survival Evolved" just got up from an AWS outage about a month ago. The studio also promised to look into the one-in-a-million fluke, making sure that it will not happen in the future.

Meanwhile, the developers are planning to capitalize on the 'mod' trend by placing several modders on their payroll. According to PC Gamer, Studio Wildcard will be choosing up to 15 modders monthly and provide a stipend of $4000 to create mods for "Ark: Survival Evolved." After each month, the mods will be tested to see if they will continue or be dropped off the program. If the program proves successful, they could even add more to the original 14 modders.

As for the console update of "Ark: Survival Evolved," it has been advised that it would be around 20GB for the Xbox One, as it contains many additional features like new dinos, structures, weapon rebalancing and Explorer Notes. It is also meant to get the console versions of the games on par with the PC version of "Ark: Survival Evolved."
