Musicians usually use their music as a way to express their thoughts and sentiments regarding certain issues. In Snoop Dogg's case, he takes his issues with the current government, especially with the president, through his new music video "Lavander" (Nightfall Remix).

An open critic of Donald Trump, Snoop Dogg points a gun on "Ronald Klump" in the video, a character meant to represent the current U.S. president. According to Snoop Dogg, he is dealing with the real issue, referring to Trump as a clown. He also adds that the track wants to give a voice to the people who do not have a voice, USA Today reported.

Snoop Dogg states that there is a lot of clowning around going on, with the police, the president and life in general as the main focus. Other grievances the rapper added were the immigration ban, the 20-30 year jail time for convicted users of marijuana, and police killings, along with Trump's presidential win.

Billboard also reports that there was another angle seen in the video, this one regarding the shooting of Philando Castile. Pitched in by the music video's director Jesse Wellens, a scene in Snoop Dogg's music video recounts the death of Castile when an officer shoots him several times. The rapper even uses some lines referring to police brutality, showing Snoop Dogg's response to the shooting.

BADBADNOTGOOD, the group who originally made the track, was positive about Snoop Dogg's rendition of their track. While not involved creatively on the track, group member Leland Whitty is happy to hear the rapper dropping lines like he was his 90's self, bringing out things that are not heard in the recent hip-hop scene. On his end, Snoop Dogg announced that he would have the new track added to his upcoming album, titled "Never Left," scheduled for a May release.
