‘New Girl’ Season 7 Release, Spoilers: EP Talks Possible Storyline for Nick and Jess

Fox has yet to confirm if "New Girl" Season 7 is a go, although the show's executive producers already have ideas on what the storyline would be. Dave Finkel and Brett Baer shared their thoughts on a possible scenario for the installment in a recent interview.

Baer and Finkel sat down with TV Line to talk about "New Girl" Season 7 and whether Season 6 is the last run of the show. They both want to see a renewal happen, although they admit that this decision is up to Fox and the studios.

Regardless, the producers have come prepared for storyline ideas in case the network gives "New Girl" Season 7 a green light. Talking about the Season 6 Finale, Baer said that the installment will keep Jess and Nick as a couple. They will omit scenarios where they break up and get back together again as what happened in the previous seasons.

"There's only so much back and forth you can do. But we've been talking about creative solutions to that dynamic and how to move forward in a way that wouldn't just be a one-directional approach," Baer said. He assured that the excitement in their relationship will remain a focus in "New Girl" Season 7.

Finkel added that they have some "bold ideas" when it comes to Jess and Nick. Nick's admission that he is in love with his best friend (see video below) sets up the storyline in "New Girl" Season 7. It opens a new journey for the couple and this is what will drive the story in the installment.

Baer and Finkel are hopeful that the show will return, especially since the network reportedly intends to bring it back. Likewise, showrunner Liz Meriwether told The Hollywood Reporter that Fox is supportive of the series, so "New Girl" Season 7 might just happen.

Regardless, the decision lies on Fox whether to give "New Girl" Season 7 a go. The network has until May to announce a cancellation or a renewal of the series.
