After yesterday's announcement that Justin Timberlake would perform at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, it was hard to imagine that the performance lineup could get any bigger. However, it still can. Today (Aug. 16), MTV announced that Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Bruno Mars will play at the Aug. 25 ceremony.

According to MTV News, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will play their same-sex marriage-embracing hit "Same Love." The political track, which was originally released in July 2012, has gained traction on pop radio and with listeners since the Supreme Court struck down DOMA and California's Prop 8 in June.

"Same Love" sits at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, making it the third top 20 hit for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis from their debut studio album "The Heist." "Can't Hold Us" and "Thrift Shop," which are nominated for a combined six VMAs, both hit No. 1.

Meanwhile, "When I Was Your Man" singer Bruno Mars will play the newest single off his 2012 album "Unorthodox Jukebox." It has yet to be confirmed what exact track Mars will play.

The "Unorthodox Jukebox" performance will be Mars' second time taking the VMA stage. In 2011, the R&B crooner performed Amy Winehouse's "Valerie" in a tribute to the late songstress.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Bruno Mars will join Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke and Justin Timberlake in the star-studded schedule. "Get Lucky" duo Daft Punk is also rumored to make a VMA appearance, according to Stephen Colbert.

Don't expect this to be the last round of VMA performer announcements. A rock band is sure to join the lineup, as is customary in recent Video Music Awards shows. Green Day performed at last year's ceremony, and Young the Giant took the stage in 2011.
