NFL Draft talk heating up, Sammy Watkins star?

Over the last five years some of the most memorable draft picks have been quarterbacks and wide receivers. With a lot of controversy surrounding the top quarterback prospects it makes sense that teams will be looking to unearth the next Julio Jones, A.J. Green or Josh Gordon. So who would be the player that can make this kind of impact? Clemson's Sammy Watkins. The star receiver is tipped to go high, but he could be the steal of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Watkins had a stunning season for Clemson, and he topped that off with a very impressive combine, in which he was rated as one of the best prospects there. To get an idea of the type of wide receiver he will be in the NFL, many have drawn comparisons to Cleveland Browns' Josh Gordon, minus the attitude problems. It might come as a surprise that the Browns themselves are the favourite to draft Watkins. Although they have quarterback issues and a quality receiver in Gordon, it appears that they want to match the pair of them together, in an attempt to torment NFL defenses.

Other possible landing spots include St. Louis, Jacksonville or Oakland, and if he falls down the draft order then a host of teams will try to secure his services, but it would be a huge shock if he was to go lower than a top five pick. The young receiver is fast, strong and seems like an NFL ready prospect, so what's not to love for these struggling teams who are in need of an instant upgrade?

This is one of the greatest draft classes in a long, long time, but it seems impossible to think of Sammy Watkins as a bust. Write his name down, as it's one you're going to want to remember.
