This week's episode of New Girl is all about the new guy at school and Nick's newfound passion. In "Landline," the loft deals with phone problems and taboo work relationships.

The episode begins with Jess being told that the school has finally found a science teacher to replace her, since she is now the vice principal. During the phone call she has to move into Nick's room because it is the only place that gets cell service. As the entire loft is huddled in Nick's room to use their phones, Jess has a brilliant idea... get a landline.

When the landline is installed the group stares at it in awe and can barely remember how it works. While Schmidt, Winston and Nick wait for the phone to ring, Nick tries to spark up a conversation with them, because he misses them, but they still blow him off. Later that day Nick is at home (because he works at night) and is stuck answering the home phone. After a couple of calls he gets really into it and starts to alphabetize the messages.

Meanwhile, Jess learns that Coach is sleeping with the school nurse and then has to have a sit down with them and tell them that there are boundaries at school. At the same time another woman that Coach is sleeping with walks in and they get into a fight over him. Jess gets even more angry with Coach and tells him that he can't go around sleeping with everyone because it isn't okay.

Just then the new science teacher Ryan (played by Julian Morris) comes in and Jess gets completely sidetracked. She clearly likes him because he is smart, super hot and has a British accent. Coach can tell right away that she likes him and he is going to use that to his advantage.

Back at the loft, Nick has found his calling as the loft's secretary, taking messages for both Winston and Schmidt. When the two get home from work, Nick gives them a beer and then tries to talk to them about their messages, because he just wants to connect with them again. It is so cute, but the guys think he is overstepping.

The next day, Nick calls them in a three-way call and catches them up on their missed calls. Nick then tells Winston that he broke up with the girl he was avoiding and that he sent a terrible picture of Schmidt to a magazine that was working on an article about him. As soon as they hang up, Schmidt and Winston know they have to do something to stop Nick's craziness.

Back at school, Jess holds a meeting with all the teachers to talk about boundaries in the work place. She says that when someone is touching you, you simply say "shut it down" and he or she will now know that it means stop. In an attempt to embarrass Jess, Coach asks her to demonstrate a situation where that would work.

Coach then volunteers the new guy to be her partner in the demonstration. Ryan massages her shoulders and when she finally remembers to "shut it down," she says the words and swipes her arms down and hits his penis, which is completely awkward.

In an attempt to stop Nick for inserting himself in their lives, Schmidt and Winston get a message machine for the loft. Nick is really upset about being replaced by technology, but he lets it happen. Later, Schmidt is sad that he hasn't heard from the magazine about his interview day and Nick reveals to Winston that he did get a message but he isn't telling him because he is hurt by what they did. All Nick wanted was to be friends with them again like old times.

Just then, the magazine calls back and says if Schmidt can't do the interview right now then they are going to drop the article. Since Schmidt isn't there, Nick convinces Winston to use his magical landline powers to pretend to be Schmidt. Lying down and drinking soda from a straw, Winston does the interview as Schmidt and he totally nails it.

Jess then goes to Coach and apologizes for telling him he can't date someone he works with. She then talks to Ryan and you can tell there is a spark between then. Before he can ask her out, the principal comes to her and tells her that even though teachers can date, administrators can't date teachers, which means Ryan is off limits!

Tune in next week to see if Jess is willing to break the rules for Ryan.
