Andy Samberg is set to host the 2015 Emmy Awards.

"Buckle your seat belts, Emmy viewers! Like, in general you should buckle your seat belts in your car," Samberg, 36, joked in a statement.

"In fact, even if you're not an Emmy viewer, you should buckle your seat belt. It can be dangerous on the road. Also, if you're not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this year, because I'm hosting, and it's gonna be a wild ride," he continued. "So buckle your seat belts."

Best known for his Emmy-award winning SNL shorts, including 2007's "D*ck In A Box" with Justin Timberlake, the funny guy will have no problem poking fun of his Hollywood cohorts.
"Andy has excelled in all aspects of the television universe, both from behind and in front of the camera," said Bruce Rosenblum, TV Academy chairman and CEO in a statement.

Indeed, Samberg (along with his Lonely Island partners, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone) is credited with helping SNL go viral with their uber popular digital shorts. And who could forget his hilariously entertaining performance with Weird Al Yankovic during last years Emmys?

"The moment the Emmy Awards' host was brought up, we said it had to be Andy," FOX chairmen and CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden said in a statement. "He is fearless, hilarious, an award-winning comedian, singer, writer and actor with incredible live TV experience. We know he'll deliver the laughs and give viewers an incredible night they will enjoy."

Samberg's varied talents won him a Golden Globe in 2014 for his role as Jake Peralta on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

He's also working with Lonely Island to develop an as-yet-untitled sitcom for Fox starring Community's Danny Pudi, along with Home for the Weekend, a mockumenary hosted by Neal Brennan that follows celebrities as they return to the hometowns they grew up in before hitting it big.

The 2015 Emmys will air live from L.A.'s Nokia Theatre on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 8 p.m. EST.
