Fox's 'Gotham' Ep 21: 'The Anvil or the Hammer' Recap: Will Ben McKenzie's Jim Gordon Stop Batman's Ogre?

The Batman prequel, Gotham,  continues on Fox with 2 episodes left. In Episode 21, as secrets are finally revealed, will Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), and The Ogre (Milo Ventimiglia) end up getting hit by the The Anvil or the Hammer?

Nygma (Corey Michael Smith) tries to keep calm after committing murder. Knowing Barbara (Erin Richards) is missing, Gordon asks Bullock to step out when he has to beat up a suspect. The Ogre actually has her trapped in his sex dungeon.

Alfred (Sean Pertwee) hears his friend, Reggie, has died and has doubts about how he died. Bruce (David Mazouz) has the copy of the key Selina made for him. Butch is setting up the guns for Penguin. Gordon asks Penguin for help to get into the Fox Glove, but then has to threaten him. Penguin promises Gordon he will owe him a big favor

Bruce sets up the fire alarms when he enters Wayne Enterprises. With a ticket to the high class brothel, Bullock has to change clothes to look the part of wealthy businessman. The Ogre wants things to work with Barbara but she says Jim will find him. After hitting her, the Ogre shows Barbara the faces of of all his female victims. 

With the key, Bruce finds the secret value but is caught red-handed by Sid Bunderslaw (Michael Potts). Sid didn't want Alfred to get hurt; he just wanted information. Bruce's father accepted the reality of his business. Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) enters the room, tells him about the cameras. Fox reveals his father was a good man, a true stoic who kept his best self secret.

Ms. Kringle doesn't recognize her boyfriend's dead body in Nygma's operating table. Sal Maroni (David Zayas) meets with his hit-man who was just released from prison. Bullock enters the kinky brothel and stops everything when he witnesses an act of beastiality.   

Barbara cries because she cannot name someone to kill for him. Gordon gets a name from one of the hookers, who was badly cut by the Ogre. They get a location of a hotel from her. She then asks Jim to kill him for her. 

The gun jams when the hit-man attempt to take down Maroni. Thinking Falcone tried to kill him, Maroni doesn't realize he's being played by Penguin. Butch realizes Penguin setup the shooting in his favor. 

Nygma gets rid of the las bit of evidence from his murder. Gordon and Bullock find the hotel room empty. The two then receive a call from the Ogre. Barbara watches Ogre kill her parents. 

The detectives arrive too late. The Ogre knocks out Bullock as Gordon sees Barbara drenched in blood. Gordon and Ogre right before barber is held hostage.  Bullock gets the drop on Ogre before Gordon shoots him in the head. The Ogre cuts Barbara's throat before he hits the floor.

Bruce tells Alfred what really happened to Reggie, who was working for Bunderslaw. He's a wreck at how his father and grandfather kept quiet with the illegal activities. 

Gordon is a hero at the precinct and patches things up with Leslie (Morena Baccarin). He loves Leslie, not Barbara. Kringle gets a letter from her ex, who says she left town. 

Falcone gets a decapitated head sent to him as Maroni starts a mob war. Penguin laughs, knowing he's starting the whole thing.
